As In a Mirror

I made a discovery today! I have written before of Hillsong’s song Home. I do believe it is my current favorite song! So beautiful, and perfect for every day of our lives, setting our focus on where we will be forever! There are so many songs that talk of heaven as a place of no more sorrow, suffering, crying, or pain, but here is a song that speaks of Heaven in the context of the desire to be with the Lord forever! “Your love is all I need/ So desperately I have sought Your face/ I know You hear my every cry/ And petition that I make.”

So, something about that song reminded me of the timeless classic, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” Such beautiful melody, harmony, and words. So today, I thought, “What is it about ‘Home’ that reminds me of that?” Well, I found out that in the part that goes, “Jesus, Oh, You are my treasure” you can sing the chorus to “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring,” and it harmonizes perfectly! And I don’t believe it was intended. Amazing!

So two songs that I could listen to forever are connected!
Maybe it wasn’t a colossal discovery, but I thought it was neat!
