It is Very Hot
here in Central New York. So hot that the water coming out of the hose was scalding hot. No kidding, if I had kept my hand under that water I would have burned myself. Well, I did make sun tea today.
And we HAD to harvest the snap peas today; we decided to wait until evening to do it, cuz it was too durn hot. I picked two large bowlfuls, and like twenty minutes after I came inside, it started to rain and even to thunder!
The temperature was nice outside about 8 o’clock this evening, if only every bug and more weren’t out competing for my flesh and juicy red blood. Mmmm…
Tomorrow I believe we will harvest some berries, kale, and lettuce. I hope we will get to it, we really have to, cuz they keep growing and growing while we neglect them while throwing all our energies toward working on the house. (And making CD cases when it’s too hot
) Might I add that I absolutely LOVE homegrown kale?
Makes awesome salad, smoothie, sandwiches, and just a snack! Wish I could take care of it more often…
It was so hot recently that I burned my feet when I walked on our deck!
You had two large bowlfuls of snap peas!!! Wow, this year I have less, but some of mine are ready! What kind of lettuce did you plant? I did some kind of curly leaf light-colored lettuce that took a long time to grow. Next year I’ll probably try romaine or something like that.
Oh, your poor feet! No fun having burnt feet! Ouch!
What kind of lettuce? I honestly don’t remember! I could probably check… and let you know then. Whatever it was, it was actually a big hit. I think that curly leaf light colored stuff may be the same thing we planted last year, actually. Romaine does sound awesome, tho not everyone in my family loves it a whole lot. We had amazing success with the kale this year– we can’t keep up with it!
Last year, a horrible blight took a lot of our crop; we were very sad! So far, nothing like that has happened in the garden this year, thank God! I just can’t wait for the cucumbers to show up!
Cucumbers! I just spotted one yesterday!!! I’ll put a picture on my blog!
It’s so cute! LOL
