Last Day on Earth
I was recently reminded of this Scripture over the last week, for what reason I know not, but it is surely something that should be in our minds at all time.
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.“ (2 Peter 3:10-13)
We have got to remember what we are here on earth for: to bring more souls into God’s kingdom, for the days are short. How can we abide in God’s love and do nothing about the souls that are on their way to Hell? Interestingly, I recently listened to this song again, called “Last Day on Earth” from Steven Curtis Chapman’s All Things New album.
Maybe this won’t be my last day on earth, but it might be someone else’s. How then shall I live? The things I do and say affect the people around me, but above all, God’s Word says that the world will know who we are by the love we have for ONE ANOTHER! I find it amazing, how the way we Christians relate affects “outsiders” so much! Father, help us just to grow more and more in Your love, to seek those things that are eternal, to lay down our lives for the brethren, to dare to love the way You do.
