Missions in the United States, Part 1

When we hear the word “missionary,” we most likely think of white people in third world countries preaching the gospel, right?
I am quite sure you all know how the Western world has become so atheistic, so religiously high-minded, humanistic, and self-righteous. The gospel has been so perverted, even from the pulpits of popular TV preachers. We need missionaries here, who will overcome the obstacles and dangers in schools, government buildings, the public square, television, even our neighborhoods and homes and, alas, our churches. Take heart, people, there are missionaries working among us. One “missions” group is called The Way of the Master. You may have heard of the TV show, hosted by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron. Thank God for such men in the United States who have such a fiery zeal for the furtherance of the Gospel! The purpose of their group is “to inspire and equip Christians—to teach them how to share the gospel simply, effectively, biblically . . . the way Jesus did.”

Once an atheist wrote a letter to Ray Comfort, saying that if he really believed all that he said about God and Jesus, he would be madly running the streets telling all the people about the way to salvation. Ray responded, “Sir, that’s what I’ve been doing for 36 years.” It sure is worthwhile to visit their Youtube page; it has lots of witnessing clips that really show you how to share the Gospel biblically with different people. I will sample two videos, each about 5 minutes long.

Here, Kirk Cameron witnesses to a man. Watch the comprehension on the man’s face; it is incredible!

Here, Ray Comfort witnesses to a Jewish Lady who is… not so hospitable to the Gospel, but he still deals with her skillfully.

Isn’t it amazing how simple it is just to share the news of salvation with someone? If you visit the homepage link above, you can find a video showing the technique and method they use every time: What Did Jesus Do?

I will be posting more on the subject of missions in the United States, so stay tuned!
