I just read a great article by Paul Baloche, called “Worship in Times of Sorrow.” Really insightful.
BTW, Paul has made great “worship workshop” videos for worship teams that I personally have found very helpful. I am a rhythm guitarist on my church’s worship team, so his lessons on making music in a group setting, especially a worship music setting, have been very helpful! Like I can listen to what the other musicians are doing and depending on where they are on the music scale, I can tell I should play something higher or lower, etc. So if you want to learn more about playing music in a group setting, visit HigherPraiseTube.com (linked on my sidebar) and search “Paul Baloche.” Hillsong guitar workshop is also EXCELLENT!
Oh, and I know this is TOTALLY unrelated, but… my bro and I tried to make a purple cake today. It turned out gray, kinda like the day. Oh well. The frosting successfully turned out green, though! Has anybody successfully made an odd-colored cake before? Not red or green or blue, but purple or orange or… black?
And back to the subject I opened with, I have been working on making a playlist of “Heaven Songs.” I LOVE heaven songs, but unfortunately I don’t own a whole lot. So far I have Hillsong Live’s “Home,” MercyMe’s “I Can Only Imagine,” Hillsong United’s “Soon,” and Phillips, Craig and Dean’s “Revelation Song.” And that’s it. I know MercyMe makes incredible heaven songs. Someday if we can find time and a good deal, I think I’ll pick some up.
Anybody have any suggestions on good heaven songs?
Hi Alice! Sorry this is a little late… I ransaked my mp3 player to find heaven songs for ya!
Here’s a list of the worship heaven songs:
Hillsong and Third Day both have beautiful songs called “All the Heavens,” although they are both two different songs.
Sandi Patti and Wayne Watson’s song “Another Time, Another Place” is a great one, although I prefer Avalon’s rendition.
Matt Redman’s “Better is One Day” is great, and Rebecca St. James and Kutless both have wonderful renditions as well.
Chris Tomlin’s “I Will Rise” is perfect! (All I can say
)
Stellar Kart has a song called “Angels in Chorus,” which is not quite about heaven, but it is a beautiful song about… well, angels in our choruses.
Here a few more contemporary/pop songs that you might like:
Heaven by Paul Wright
Far Away From Here, and Fly Away by Avalon
Heaven by Jars of Clay
Hope you like these, especially because I went through all 1,000 songs on my mp3 player to find them for you.
If I can think of more later, I will add them here. Oh, and by the way, Hillsong United’s “Home” is awesome!
Oh, cool! Thanks, Jay!
