My Mom and Dad went out to the Finger Lakes region recently, and on their trip briefly visited Palmyra, where Joseph Smith started his “movement.” Mom said it’s really creepy and spooky up there.
Apparently, there’s a gold statue of the Moroni character who “visited” Joseph Smith. Is that what happened to the gold tablets given to Smith? Hmm… Anyway, this all reminded me of some Way of the Master material I’ve seen on Mormonism and how to understand and speak to these people. It’s certainly interesting; here it is for your viewing!
Here’s their On the Box episode in which they discuss Mormonism, as well.
These are terrific!!! I watched them, and so did Dad. How I WISH I knew this stuff before we went. Maybe I will have to go back now that I know….
Thanks for posting this. Last fall, I had some people come to my house of the Mormon faith. I was polite to them and declined their invitation to talk about the Bible (but of course in their own way). I told them that I was a born again Christian saved by faith through Grace.
I also had a Jehovah Witness leave me a letter and one of their tracts.
I really need to learn more about the errors of the Mormon and Jehovah Witness faiths so that I can help open their eyes to the truth.
God Bless!
Yah, I learned a lot from these videos, too, but I’ve never met a Mormon! (yet?) Sometimes all the information just makes me shake my head (or makes it swim) and realize how all “other” religions are very similar. But these guys presented it pretty simply and straightforwardly, which was nice.
Thanks, Rena, for stopping by!
And you, too, Mom!
