Why isn’t the media covering this one, eh? I guess I know. I just read this article at Persecution Blog; apparently, there is a government genocide of Christians, especially within the Karen tribe, going on in Burma (Myanmar) right now. It is appalling. Even more angering is that, as the article states, the world is unaware. I found myself asking, “Father, how long til you execute justice on the earth?” just to hear Him say, “How long til you execute justice on the earth?” I am a part of Christ’s body; I am an ambassador of Christ on this earth. So, through less than desirable circumstances, I was inspired to write an early Word for Wednesday.

“And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. “ (1 Corinthians 12:26)

“When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.”(Revelation 6:9-11)

“LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart;
You will cause Your ear to hear,
To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.”
(Psalm 10:17-18)

“Defend the poor and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy;
Free them from the hand of the wicked.
Arise, O God, judge the earth.
For You shall inherit all nations.”
(Psalm 82:3-4, 8 )

The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours;
The world and all its fullness, You have founded them.
The north and the south, You have created them;
Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name.
You have a mighty arm;
Strong is Your hand, and high is Your right hand.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
Mercy and truth go before Your face.
Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!
They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance.
In Your name they rejoice all day long,
And in Your righteousness they are exalted.
For You are the glory of their strength,
And in Your favor our horn is exalted.
For our shield belongs to the LORD,
And our king to the Holy One of Israel.
(Psalm 89:13-18)

“Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil,
Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor;
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.”
(Isaiah 1:16-17)

“Then the LORD saw it, and it displeased Him
That there was no justice.
He saw that there was no man,
And wondered that there was no intercessor;
Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him;
And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.”
(Isaiah 59:16)

“ Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen,
My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased!
I will put My Spirit upon Him,
And He will declare justice to the Gentiles.
He will not quarrel nor cry out,
Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.
A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench,
Till He sends forth justice to victory;
And in His name Gentiles will trust.”
(Matthew 12:18-21)

Psalm 97:

“The LORD reigns;
Let the earth rejoice;
Let the multitude of isles be glad!

Clouds and darkness surround Him;
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
A fire goes before Him,
And burns up His enemies round about.
His lightnings light the world;
The earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD,
At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory.

Let all be put to shame who serve carved images,
Who boast of idols.
Worship Him, all you gods.
Zion hears and is glad,
And the daughters of Judah rejoice
Because of Your judgments, O LORD.
For You, LORD, are most high above all the earth;
You are exalted far above all gods.

You who love the LORD, hate evil!
He preserves the souls of His saints;
He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.”

Finally, I would like to add this word as a reminder to us, not to grow weary in well-doing, not to fret because of all the evil in the world, to stay strong, and remember Him who holds the future, who holds everyone. I must keep my focus on Him, forsaking all fear, listening to no voice but His, who will guide me and keep me from falling.

“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm.

For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the LORD,
They shall inherit the earth.
For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more;
Indeed, you will look carefully for his place,
But it shall be no more.
But the meek shall inherit the earth,
And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
(Psalm 37:7-11)

Thank God, the suffering Christians in Burma are victors, blessed, and confident. Father, give us wisdom as to how to help our brothers and sisters; thank You for strength, thank You that You are in control.

  1. :) I don’t have anything to add.

    Great post.

  2. Persecution in Burma and elsewhere just isn’t real to most American Christians. Unfortunately, it probably won’t be real until it hits our shores. It seems our “brothers and sisters” must live under the red, white, and blue to qualify as family.

    Good post.
