Yes, I love 2 Corinthians, too! Awesome are v6-7, some of my many favorites:)

“For it is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God" makes me think of 1 Peter 1:23 "for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is through the living and abiding word of God." We are always led back to God's word, He spoke(God's word) and "commanded light to shine out of darkness" God's word is a person, "the word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth." Jn. 1:14 Also as Jesus is the light then God's word is the light.

“If we surround ourselves with the image of Christ,.." Surround ourselves with God's word. As the title of your blog says "As in a Mirror." We need to keep beholding our face in the Word of God to see who we are the new image in the light of Jesus Christ.

Which will lead us to the dying of self so the life of Christ can shine forth from us. The death of us is woven throughout the Bible and very clearly in the NT. Recently I have been reading Romans 5&6. Rom. 6 talks about us having been baptized into His death, so we can walk in newness of life. (v 4) Past tense, we who have died to sin. How? Through the Spirit we put to death the deeds of the flesh. Rom. 8:13

God's word is the key that opens the door to the love of God. So that as you well said, "the love of Christ compels us" having understood are place of death and His life.

"Your desire will follow your attention." Oh, let our desire be, for Him to be glorified in us!!

I can keep going because it is so good!! Your WFW has brought refreshment to my soul, Thank You.

I'm new to your blog. Thanks for having me :)

I am thankful for three things: the Scriptures in our own language, the freedom to discuss it among ourselves, and the Holy Spirit to reveal His Word to us. I am very glad you all benefited from this; so often when I write these things, I am preaching to myself.
What freedom we have in Jesus! How glad I am that the results are in His hands, not mine!

Alice,

I think the Lord led you to write this... I have been asking myself time and again how to "let go" of me, the things that make me "me" that shouldn't be there. I believe that humbling oneself plays a big part in all of this, as you said. But the verse that really touched me was:

Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3;16-18)

"If we surround ourselves with the image of Christ, the love of Christ, we will automatically become obedient out of our growing love for Christ."

It all reminds me that God is love, so if we are transformed into His image, we not only love Him, but we become Him to other people (I plan to write a WFW on this soon).

Thanks for sharing this!
